Ryoko Ohara is the Director of ELEGGUA Entertainment (Tokyo). She trained as a ballet dancer at the English National Ballet school until she suffered a serious knee injury.

She started her career as a Salsa dancer at the age of 24, and is one of the top Salsa dancers in Tokyo.

In 2003, she was one of the first to be honoured at the LA Salsa Congress as an asian dancer.

She has been teaching workshops and performing (Ryoko & Ryu, Wasabi, Wabisabi, Eleggua) not only in Japan, but also at various congresses and festivals abroad, including the US, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, China, HK, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. She has also qualified in the finals of the first World Salsa Championship in Las Vegas.

She won the first place in the Japan Version of Dance With the Stars and has been on the different popular Japanese TV shows. Recently, she has been working as a choreographer for famous Japanese singer, Mariko Takahashi’s Japan Tour.


WABISABI was founded in 2005 as Ryoko’s beginner ladies’ shine student class, but after 2 years, it became one of the most popular ladies’ shine team in Tokyo.

It is known for it’s unique choreographies, formation changes and use of technique and music of different genres.

Their challenge is to express totally different concepts and colours in each choreography.

They have traveled and performed overseas, including LA, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Greece, Thailand and etc.
